Total Solar Eclipse - 11 July 2010

Three days to go before the eclipse, and this is what the sky looked like. Clouds make the video dramatic, but the rapidly moving clouds and unpredictable drizzles made it impossible to do any long-exposure astrophotography and kept us anxious about the upcoming eclipse. Northerners will recognize the constellations Scorpius and Sagittarius in the left half of the Milky Way. To the right of that are the bright stars Beta and Alpha Centaurus. A little further along the Milky Way is the dark nebula called the Coal Sack near the Southern Cross.
