Comet C/2006 M4 (SWAN) and M13 - 10/28/2006

Astrophoto Home Page | Home Page

On this evening, Comet C/2006 M4 (SWAN) was in the constellation Hercules, passing not far from globular cluster M13. Unfortunately a nearly 1st quarter moon decreased contrast enough that visually the tail of the comet was just barely detectable. Fortunately, with a lot of contrast enhancement applied to the photo, it can be seen to stretch across the central part of the constellation.
